Our banana coffins offer a truly natural and environmentally responsible alternative to traditional coffins. Handwoven from sustainably sourced banana plant fibres, these coffins are fully biodegradable, lightweight, and beautifully organic in appearance, making them an ideal choice for families seeking a meaningful, eco-friendly farewell.
The banana plant is one of the most sustainable natural resources available. Once the fruit has been harvested, the plant naturally dies back and regenerates, allowing the fibres to be reused with minimal environmental impact. This makes banana fibre an exceptionally renewable and low-waste material for eco coffin production.
Each Ecoffins banana coffin is individually handcrafted by skilled artisans using natural fibres extracted from the trunk and leaves of the banana plant. These fibres are carefully dried, treated naturally, and woven using traditional techniques to create a strong yet breathable coffin structure.
No MDF, chipboard, veneers, plastics, or metal components are used in construction. All banana coffins are finished without toxic varnishes, chemical stains, or synthetic lacquers, ensuring they are; fully biodegradable, plastic-free and metal-free, environmentally safe for burial, suitable for cremation and compatible with green burial regulations.
The natural texture of banana fibre gives each coffin subtle variations in colour and weave, ensuring every piece is unique.
